JULIE - 1883 Maison Routin

JULIE ROTHHAHN

Curious and dynamic, Julie Rothhahn tastes to deconstruct meaning, to open up avenues of reflection and to bring to food a design that helps to digest and escape. She puts her designer’s eye on the edible, which then becomes a material to be modeled, to be staged, to which we give meaning. The food becomes sensitive, sometimes emotional, even transgressive.

Julie has an uncanny ability to appreciate and approach form and taste as an inseparable whole. An expert in art direction, her visual acuity combined with her gastronomic talent make her a highly skilled culinary designer. Concept and storytelling are the key ingredients of her creative process. She likes to change point of view, shake up conventions, invent, and reinvent… all of this for creations that are out of the ordinary and highly artistic.

HER BACKGROUND

After her studies at the ESAD in Reims, Julie started working in culinary design. For the past 15 years, she has been creating experiences, installations, performances, immersive dinners, inspirational books… always with the comestible at the heart of the creation. In 2009, she won the Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris in the design category. She also coordinates the Master Design & Culinary program of the School of Art and Design of Reims.
